It’s almost the end of March which means spring is here and women’s history month is coming to an end. For the past year I have been part of Women at Essity (WE). WE is a resource group based in Essity’s Philadelphia office. This group has been around for about a year. If you want you can read more about the forming of the Women at Essity that in a post from Carrie Harcus here.
I wanted to get involved with WE for two reasons. I have had experience with a similar group at a previous employer and found it beneficial. At the kick off event that Carrie writes about I was impressed my the mission Also, I work with a non-profit dedicated to developing women leaders so I thought I could bring some tips from there to Essity, and vice versa. I have really enjoyed being involved with the WE committee- even when I really don’t have that much time to be.
This year the committee put a lot of effort behind International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th. The theme for the day was #BalanceforBetter. At our offices we had 3 hours of programming ranging in topics from Balancing your Health: Sleep Habits to Balancing Perspectives: A Cross-Functional Peer Roundtable to Balancing Your Efficiency: Microsoft Teams Training. There was event time to socialize and network.
And the support for IWD wasn’t just happening in the Philadelphia office. Essity made a video in support of the #BalanceforBetter, removing gender bias in hygiene and health and creating opportunities for women in the workplace. You can see it over on the Essity LinkedIn account.
Next up for me and the group I work with on WE? Putting together a training on how to best use LinkedIn as a professional networking tool and rock your profile.
