Happy New Year! Here on the east coast 2018 has come in strong- with snow, ice and cold! As in I haven’t been this cold since I lived in Chicago. I am really happy that for Christmas this year I asked my family for some new warm weather gear so I was prepared.
I like to use the new year to think about my goals for the year. This year I tried something a little different. Instead of setting resolutions I set intentions. What is the difference you may ask? Well, if you Google “intention vs. resolution” you will see a lot of articles that address this topic. Both are about what you want to attain for yourself. But if a resolution is the end destination, an intention is about how you go about the journey. Intentions are about how you want to act, what you value and who you want to be. In 2018 this is really resonating with me.
In the past my resolutions have always been pretty generic- lose weight, eat healthy, save money. Pretty standard and pretty easy to break by springtime. My intentions for this year feel more personal to me and where I am right now. And unlike a resolution, intentions are flexible so you can’t really “break” them. There are many ways to act on each intention so if one doesn’t work for me all I have to do is try another. This is the first year I have done intentions and I have to admit- I think I a fan.
Next up for me is setting 2018 work objectives. A lot of exciting things are going on this year on Professional Hygiene at Essity that I will be sharing with you all so stay tuned…
