Hope Springs Eternal

The past two years have seemed like one long interminable winter. What began with a purported two-weeks of isolation, turned into a two-year adventure of twists, turns, highs, and lows, as we meandered through the uncertainty of the pandemic. But now, as the metaphorical and meteorological Spring intersect, we can finally begin to exhale and envision the light at the end of the tunnel.
Contemplation, Evaluation, & Adaptation
Though life is never easy, it’s up to us to define how each struggle inspires and empowers us. When we allow the struggles to define us, our response is often triggered by stress. And, as the pandemic lingered on, we saw this stress manifest in many negative ways; within our families, among our colleagues, on social media, and in society. But, as we begin to emerge from this global struggle, we have the ability to change that narrative.
As we come out of the dark, we have the opportunity to not only walk into the light, but to allow the light to shine through us, creating positive environments in our families, in our workplaces, and throughout all of society.
I See the Light
Love is all it takes. While the word love has several meanings, from eros and romance to the unconditional, committed and sacrificial love of agape, that is not the focus here. No, in this light, I am speaking more of the brotherly love described by the Greek word philia. This is the love that breaks down barriers and allows us to treat each other with mutual respect. Philia is the love that allows us to emerge from the pandemic as better people who work towards the betterment of society. This is the love that illumines our way to a better tomorrow, shining on us and shining through us as we come out of the dark!
