Preach It!
As an ordained minister, a deacon in the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, I am called to educate, motivate, inspire and serve. In essence, I am the conduit that is utilized to reach the hearts of people, wherever they are on their journey.

Now, whether I’m dressed in a suit and addressing our sales team at a national meeting, or dressed in vestments and preaching to the congregation, the core values of who I am are consistent. And, being authentic and consistent is key! Being authentic, humble and honest in our communications is the only way to ensure that we are trusted and that our message is heard. And, honesty and integrity are key core values of our organization; a fundamental reason why I joined Essity nearly six years ago.
The Art of Inspiring Change

After a quick stop into a nearby phone booth, I am back into my suit and ready to educate our partners, motivate our sales team, inspire each other to achieve our government sales objectives and serve our internal and external customers. To be honest, since it is still Covid season, the suit is only from the waist up…on a good day! In fact, I look at a suit during Covid in a similar manner to how I view a mullet; business on the top and casual below…the camera line. But, even though I sported some Covid-hair for a while, a mullet was never going to happen…again!

Remember, change doesn’t just happen. Unfortunately, we don’t have a magical phone booth that we can jump into and come out on the other side with “Super Selling Skills”. We have to continue to learn new techniques and skills in order stay on top of our game, while at the same time remaining true to our core values. As part of my personal development plan this year, I have decided to invest in the Masterclass Series of workshops. These classes are taught be experts in their field and, I hope, will enhance all areas of my communication skills, in both my business and personal endeavors.
The Art of Negotiation

To many, negotiating sounds like a daunting task. But, as sales professionals, that is what we do on a daily basis. Now, the expert that I have been learning from in the Masterclass Series is Chris Voss, who is a former FBI hostage negotiator. Chris has taken his knowledge of hostage negotiations and transformed that into a business model, which teaches the art of communication…the art of negotiation…the art of winning! But, don’t take my word for it, listen to sample directly from Chris… https://youtu.be/fT8mhoScU1w
Don’t Let Covid Bring You Down!

Moving forward, don’t use Covid as an excuse. Dig deep to find peace within yourself; to once again find your passion that will ensure your success. In other words, don’t let the isolation and duration of the pandemic bring you down! Therefore, take this time to develop your goals and seek an avenue to hone your skills. Then, when this is all over and you have the opportunity to get in front of all of your customers again…GO CRAZY & PREACH IT!
